So what exactly is Trading Communities all about?

Over the past several years I’ve had the good fortune to have traveled around the globe, from the Americas, to Europe and Asia. During my travels I was part of a dynamic group of individuals who while traveling exchange cultural knowledge, ideas, and expand this community through events organized in each location that we visited or resided along the way. I also ran into many traders during my adventures, swapping ideas and looking at our different trading styles, and stories about the nomadic traveling lifestyles trading has given us.

So one day I asked myself, “why don’t traders have such a resource?”. It’s not always easy to find like minded people who share in our passion for trading, let alone somebody to discuss your favorite Gann theories with. And if you move cities and countries as often as I do, it’s handy to have a location to go to that will tell me what’s happening in my local area.

Many of us trade intraday systems also, be it Stock Equities, Futures or FX. Some of these systems mean screen watching as charts tick up and down for hours on end. Can you spot every trade on your own? I now I can’t! The Trading Communities forums and chat lounge give you a place to meet other traders, and build your own trading teams to combine your efforts as you try to spot every trade, and improve your trading edge.

Do you ever have people say to you, “I wish I could be a trader like you, but where do I start?”. To give you an answer to that question we’ll be launching complimentary online video training covering risk management, trade setup, entries, exits, indicators and more. The materials will cover the basics of the system that allowed me to build a trading income while spending only 2 hours a week on my trading while working a full time job. This information will be a must for anybody wanting to take their financial destiny into their own hands, something sadly lacking in the education provided by most of our Governments.

And exactly who is Rob McDonald?

I was born in a small country farming town in Australia. Skipping forward a few years, one of my school teachers commented that people actually make money trading currencies! I was the spark I was looking for, and although the fire took a few years to grow, given I was the only person on my school to apply for the Economics course they chose not to run, it eventually grew in to a love of the markets you probably share yourself by now.

Having fallen into the I.T. industry, the tech bust showed me that nothing lasts forever, so while laying on my favorite beach in Sydney during a 9 month vacation, I decided I’d discovered a lifestyle I enjoyed, free from boss’s, employees, and daily routine. Indeed the very thing I asked myself each morning during that 9 months was, “what do I want to do today?”. The only problem was, how to sustain such a lifestyle?

Through a twist of fate or two, trading ended up being the solution. More than likely just as you have done at some point, I wandered into a trading seminar, signed up for the course, and seven years later here I am! Far from an overnight success, and there is always something new to learn, the thirst for knowledge is never ending.

The key thing I took away from that first seminar though was, “if you stick at this long enough, you will eventually work it out”. Given I lost money for the first six months of my trading life, and didn’t see any return worth noting for nearly a year and a half, these words certainly kept me going. I chose to look at it like an education – it was going to take me three years, and I had a budget of what it was going to “cost” me to gain that education, as there is nothing like experience to show you the path, or more so when you stray from the path I should say.

As part of this journey I was, and hopefully always will be, involved with an amazing group of traders in the mentor group at Trading Game. No matter where you live in the world, or what your current level of trading experience, the online mentor course they offer can take you to the next level. I’m yet to see anything else like it in all my travels. Being part of a team of like minded people will accelerate your learning experience, and I can’t thank all the members of that team enough.

Somewhere along the way I managed to learn enough, and have market conditions favorable enough, that I was able to invest my hard earned money back into learning more, and eventually lead an amazing lifestyle traveling and living all over the globe, meeting amazing traders, and attending more seminars all the while.

Trading Communities is about giving some of that back, giving you a place to build your own team, and giving you an insight into exactly what I do, how simple it is, and how little time you need to spend on it. You certainly don’t need to trade the markets 8hrs a day like some of us do, but for those of us that do, it is a passion!

I love meeting new people, and have friends all over the world now. I can’t wait to start building groups of traders as I continue with my adventures, both in and out of the markets!
